The Pulse of the Unseen

The Pulse of the Unseen (2025) explores the relationship between movement, illumination and the limits of human perception. Inspired by the rhythms and energies of the natural world and the cosmos, Salar considers how light and motion can reveal visual experiences that remain concealed within apparently familiar forms.

Combining sculptural construction with mechanical rotation and ultraviolet illumination, the work brings physical movement into dialogue with fluorescent colour. Its rotating mechanism introduces a kinetic dimension, while the illuminated pigments intensify the relationship between colour, form and motion. Together, these elements create a visual experience in which the perception of the artwork is inseparable from its movement.

The work draws attention to the distinction between what exists and what becomes visible to us. Just as many phenomena in the natural world remain beyond the reach of ordinary observation, The Pulse of the Unseen explores the possibilities of revealing new visual relationships through the interaction of material, movement and light.

By engaging the viewer through both physical motion and changing visual perception, Salar invites reflection on the unseen dimensions of existence and the extent to which our understanding of the world is conditioned by our senses. The sculpture becomes an encounter with the possibilities and limitations of seeing, suggesting that the visible world represents only one dimension of a far more complex reality.
