Celestial Orbits
Celestial Orbits (2024) explores the relationship between colour, geometry and the imagined movement of celestial bodies. Drawing inspiration from the rhythms and interconnected movements of the cosmos, Salar uses circular forms and vibrant fluorescent colour to evoke a universe characterised by both extraordinary diversity and an underlying sense of order.
The circle occupies a central position in the work, suggesting continuity, recurrence and the movement of celestial bodies through space. Through the interplay of geometric forms and luminous colour, Salar develops a visual language in which individual elements appear to participate in a larger, interconnected whole. The contrasts and relationships between colours introduce a sense of rhythm and movement, transforming otherwise static forms into expressions of cosmic dynamism.
Light plays an essential role in this encounter. Fluorescent pigments and neon colours heighten the visual intensity of the work, inviting the viewer to experience colour not simply as a surface quality, but as an active element in the perception of form and space. The relationship between illumination, colour and geometry recalls the energy and complexity of celestial phenomena without attempting their literal representation.
Through this convergence of colour and geometry, Celestial Orbits invites contemplation of the relationships that connect seemingly separate elements within the universe. The work suggests that within the apparent boundlessness and diversity of cosmic existence, movement and interconnection offer their own forms of unity.
